FAQs

Think of a doula as a guide through your pregnancy and birth. A doula is hired by you and not affiliated with the hospital or any provider. A doula is not a medical provider but someone that offers unbiased unwavering support to help you reach your goals surrounding your birth.
Doula support is crucial for all types of births and all mothers because it provides continuous emotional and physical support throughout pregnancy and the birthing process. Doulas offer attention to your specific needs, provide comfort measures, and help you to strengthen advocacy skills, ensuring that mothers feel empowered, informed, and heard during this transformative experience.
Research has shown that having a doula present can lead to shorter labors, decreased medical interventions, and improved overall satisfaction with the birth experience. Doulas not only provide guidance and reassurance but also help partners actively participate and feel confident in supporting the mother.
By promoting a positive and empowering birth experience, doula support lays a strong foundation for a joyful and confident transition into motherhood.

It depends on the service you select. For any virtual or a' la carte services, you must pay in full at the time of service. For any in person packages, you must pay a 50% deposit to secure your spot on my calendar but then you may pay the remaining balance in either one or two increments. Payment should be made in full before your last prenatal visit or 36 weeks, whichever comes first. We can chat about what this will look like for you depending on the services selected.
There will be a 10% discount for all in person services that choose to pay with cash or check.

This is one of those questions that no mom even wants to ask but worries about booking too soon for fear of the unknown. I understand this fear completely as I personally experienced a loss with my first pregnancy and then hired a doula very early in my second pregnancy.
For some moms, they will want to wait until they hit a milestone like 12 weeks. For others, they will want to hire someone as soon as the stick dries! I will say that having a doula early in pregnancy can be a great way to ensure more time to build a relationship with your doula as well as more time to glean information and feel supported.
It should also be noted that doulas can book up months in advance. If possible, you want to make sure you are beginning your search on the earlier side of things so you can hire the doula that’s a perfect fit for you! With that said, it is never too late to hire a doula! As long as the baby isn’t crowing! Reach out, I would love to help if I am available!
In regard to miscarriage, I want to assure you that if the loss happens early on, I will gladly return your deposit or full balance if it has been paid. If I have attended all three prenatal meetings at the time of the loss, the deposit will be retained but the remaining balance will be refunded to you. I will also remain available for bereavement support if requested in the weeks following the loss. More details regarding refunds will be available in your contract.

At this time, I am only taking 1 to 2 clients a month. I am doing this in an effort to give each of my clients my total attention and support and with the hopes that I will not miss your big day. Of course, when it comes to birth, we unfortunately can't always make guarantees! With that being said, I want my clients to have peace of mind and know that if I am unable to make it to your birth, I will provide backup doula support. If for some reason by fault of my own, I was unable to make it to a birth and no support was able to be provided, a partial refund would be provided. Please see your contract for more details regarding refunds.

In short, yes of course! Lets chat so I can get to know more about your specific situation and needs. That is the beautiful thing about hiring a doula, it is someone to support you and your needs to have your best birth! Let's talk some more and see if I am a good fit for your birth goals.

As of now, I will travel up to 30 miles surrounding the Birmingham metro area. I will consider taking on clients beyond that for an additional mileage fee. Let’s talk and see if we can make it work.

I am happy to attend all types of births including, hospital, home birth, and birth center. Please note that while I support your autonomy, I do not attend "free births."
